Mail-order Mysteries

My comment within a story on the Huffington-Post website a few days ago put me back in touch with a fellow writer of fun, Kirk Demarias. Kirk wrote a great book on prank and joke novelties called Life of the Party.I highly recommend it.

Come to find out, Kirk is at it again with his latest work of nostalgia and awesomeness simply called, Mail-Order Mysteries. It's all about those wonderfully awful items, too irresistible to pass up and found in the back of yesteryear comic books. It's not out yet, but you'd be wise to pre-order Mail-Order Mysteries: Real Stuff from Old Comic Book Ads!I just did!

You know it's a good idea when your first reaction is "Why didn't I think of that?!" Kirk called me a while back and asked if I'd ever heard of a book on crazy, mail-order items and I was tempted to lie and say, "Ah, yeah. I'm writing it, like, right now." Instead, I simply lowered my head and muttered into the phone, "Genius." Ever gazed in wonder at an ad for a Squirrel Monkey in the back of an old Tales of Suspense? Ever been suckered into buying Sea-Monkeys because you thought "you can train them to do tricks!" like the ads said? This book is for you.

Kirk is also a great filmmaker. Check out is short film below. I'm sure you'll flip for it.
