Heaven Bound

Murray the dog was about to die, when Tom Wehrli taught him how to play with a circular hunk of plastic. The two of them traveled the world playing in Dog Disc competitions. They went to Korea, they tossed and caught in Amsterdam, twice in Japan. “Do you have any idea how many dogs Frisbee has saved?" Tom asked me when I interviewed him for my WHAM-O Super-Book. "All these dogs were sitting in shelters, and along comes someone into Frisbee and they get these cattle dogs and border collies and take them out to play.”

Tom wrote yesterday, "My buddy passed away today. He came into our already full house of dogs 13 years ago, 2 days from being destroyed at a pound. If there was ever a look a dog could give stating 'just happy to be here and I don't have to be #1,' Murray gave it. He was a great friend, and never a problem. As he grew older, he lost most of his sight and hearing, but could always find my lap."

Play bonds us.

Hollywood declares All Dogs Go to Heaven. The Bible states there are horses there, so?

"Go get it, Murray! Get it, Boy!"

Let the Geekout Begin

When I was 8-years old, my brother left for college and bequeathed me all his Iron Man comics. 'Nuff Said.

This Isn't Your Father's Word of Mouth

Thank you Al Gore, for inventing this Internet thing. It really takes Word of Mouth Marketing, which in the past was known as powerful, but s-l-o-w, and made it quite timely. Take this little tale, for instance:

This morning I got up early and headed to San Antonio to promote my game, Blurt! Before I left, I signed onto facebook and announced that I was headed this way. When I landed (after a "no time to eat" connection in Atlanta) it was way past lunch and I was starving. I went back online via my iPhone to get directions to my hotel. That's when I saw that an inventor friend of mine, Joe Haus, commented on my post with, "If you get hungry, I recommend the Chile en Nogada at La Fogata." One quick search and my GPS took me to Mexico. Joe knows I am a game inventor, but he probably didn't know that I lived in Mexico for close to 3 months and that I love authentic Mexican food. La Fogata was authentic and wonderful.

The big wooden doors open to a lush courtyard, which I bet is gorgeous at night because the place it strung up with lights for Christmas. It's chilly in Texas today, so they had a fire burning.

Inside the restaurant, the smells were mouth-wateringly incredible.

The Chile en Nogada was amazing. Thank you Joe for your Word of Mouth tip that led me to a wonderful meal. Now I shall "pay it forward" by telling everyone go out a buy a game Joe invented, called Doodle Dice. If you're hungry for fun, I recommend it.
