Murray the dog was about to die, when Tom Wehrli taught him how to play with a circular hunk of plastic. The two of them traveled the world playing in Dog Disc competitions. They went to Korea, they tossed and caught in Amsterdam, twice in Japan. “Do you have any idea how many dogs Frisbee has saved?" Tom asked me when I interviewed him for my WHAM-O Super-Book. "All these dogs were sitting in shelters, and along comes someone into Frisbee and they get these cattle dogs and border collies and take them out to play.”
Tom wrote yesterday, "My buddy passed away today. He came into our already full house of dogs 13 years ago, 2 days from being destroyed at a pound. If there was ever a look a dog could give stating 'just happy to be here and I don't have to be #1,' Murray gave it. He was a great friend, and never a problem. As he grew older, he lost most of his sight and hearing, but could always find my lap."
